On the last break, Allen Kessler came over and provided quite the interesting stat that we are proud to share about the quality of the fields here at the Commerce Casino. Ari Engel, Randy Holland, and the aforementioned Kessler are all still in our small Omaha 8 field today, and those players are three of the four living players who have cashed in at least 500 live poker tournaments. They are all looking to add another to their incredible totals today.

We would be remise if we didn’t acknowledge that this prestigious list became one player shorter, with the unfortunate passing of “Miami” John Cernuto. The poker legend died at 81 years old today, surrounded by family and loved ones at his home. Cernuto played tournaments and cash games at Commerce for over 40 years, and he will be dearly missed, as he was one of the nicest players you will ever come across.

Our condolences go out to John’s family during this difficult time, and we thank him for all the wonderful memories over the years.

  1. Rest in Heaven John. It was a pleasure making so many final tables at the Wynn with you in December of 2023. You will definitely be missed. RIP Sir.
