By now you’ve likely heard about the case in Las Vegas between poker pros Anthony Zinno and Corel Theuma, where Zinno is accused of taking a bag left behind by Theuma at the Wynn, and taking $19,000 from the backpack before returning it to security.
Well, we could have had version 2.0 of that story here at the LAPC Main Event here today. While on the first break of the Main Event, Commerce regular Michael Wasserman was using the bathroom when he noticed a small bag left behind by another patron. He took it to our floor staff, upon which they discovered $5,000 in the bag.
Not long after the bag was left with them, table mate and poker Hall of Famer Billy Baxter returned from break and told the floor staff he had lost his bag, and that there was actually $15,000 in it. Wasserman told Baxter his bag was returned there but they only found $5,000, but Baxter was happy to clarify that the $10,000 was in another pouch, and all the money was accounted for.

Cards are back in the air now, so it will be interesting to see if the old poker vet takes it easy on his kind table compadre after the well mannered gesture.
